Corey has studied classical piano since the age of 6. His interests quickly broadened to jazz, pop, and musical theatre.
As an accompanist, Corey has collaborated with instrumentalists and vocalists alike, ranging from elementary school students to vocal performance majors and musical theatre majors at the collegiate level, and numerous professional New York-based actors and singers.
He has played in numerous pit orchestras (Benny and Joon - Paper Mill Playhouse, Swing!, Hair, Working, Cabaret - NYU Tisch, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Sweeney Todd - Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, Into the Woods - Carnegie Mellon School of Music) and several performance ensembles, including the Carnegie Mellon Jazz Ensemble and the Mariko Reid Quintet.
Other professional accompanying credits include New York University, the Ailey School, Paper Mill Playhouse, Pace University, Art House Productions (Jersey City, NJ), Kean University, and Mile Square Theatre (Hoboken, NJ).

Corey is currently an Adjunct Faculty member at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, teaching undergraduate musical theatre students at New Studio on Broadway.
Since 2017, Corey has been an accompanist, a frequent music director, and teacher at Tisch Drama’s largest undergraduate studio, specializing in Freshman and Sophomore year fundamental training.
He has taught Music Theory, Sight-Singing, Small Group Music, and most recently a Dalcroze Eurhythmics-inspired rhythm training class, which he developed and launched in the Fall of 2021.
In addition to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Composition from Carnegie Mellon University, Corey also graduated with a minor in Conducting.
In New York, Corey has worked as a music director at NYU Tisch - New Studio on Broadway (MD - Swing!, Hair, Working, and Cabaret; 2017-2020), Paper Mill Playhouse (Assoc. MD - Benny and Joon, 2019) , and Art House Productions (MD - The Addams Family, 2016).
Outside of New York, Corey has music directed professionally with the Red Barn Theatre in Key West, FL (MD - I Do, I Do, 2017) and with the NeXt Theatre company in St. Catharines, Ontario (MD - Falsettos, 2013).
He also music directed productions at youth academic theatre programs, including NiCori Studios, Paper Mill Playhouse, Fordham Preparatory High School, and Stages! at Art House Productions.
In addition to fully staged musicals, Corey enjoys working as a music director and collaborator with cabaret performers, including Corinna Sowers-Adler, Ami Brabson, Imari Hardon, and many more!
Corey received a BFA degree in Composition from Carnegie Mellon University where he studied with Nancy Galbraith and Leonardo Balada.
His compositions range from solo and chamber music to the full scale Concerto for Orchestra, performed by the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic.
As an arranger, Corey has developed music for various theatrical projects and performance ensembles, including an original work performed by the NeXt Company Theatre and jazz quintet arrangements for A Very Corey Christmas, an album recorded by the Mariko Reid Quintet.
He has written and arranged works for educational purposes at NYU, as well as orchestrations and arrangements for performances at the school.
Though his collegiate studies focused in concert composition, Corey has amassed a collection of over 30 pop songs which he wrote, produced, and recorded.
He has engineered and played in numerous recording sessions and has extensive experience using Logic, MainStage, ProTools, GarageBand, and Finale software.
